Traditional Birth Attendants.

Hi, welcome to my webspace. The intention of this blog is to explore the ideas and concepts within the digital humanities and media communications with a specific interest in the Maternity services both within Ireland and on a global scale. I am interested in tribal communities means of traditional birth care, birth literature and the arts and crafts which accompany the folklore practices within different cultures. As home births and Independant Midwifery become an increasingly ‘endangered species’ this is the space which I intend to gather information, making use of the digital world for the archiving of birth practices and folklore around the world.I am also interested in how digital media can be used as a means of reducing isolation and creating support networks cross culturally and time zones, and the social, political and cultural implications this poses. Professionally I am an International Trainer with the IAIM (www.iaim.net ), holistic therapist, writer, editor and lifetime student. Please see my profile at LinkedIn for up to date cv.
